What is the Holy Qur'an's view about the imposition of religion? One well-known response is that according to the verse, “There is no compulsion in religion" (al-Baqara, 256), and in one of the two other verses the imposition of religion is not allowed, but many scholars believe that this verse was not abrogated with the verse of Jihad. What this papers argues is this ,first, the meaning of this verse and similar verses is rational and it is a guidance to the wisdom and is not preserved and secondly, this theme has been repeated in more than 100 verses in the Qur'an which have been distributed in more than sixty Qur’anic Suras, some Makki and some Madani, and some related to the beginning of Be’sat and to late Be’sat, and so the abrogation of this theme refers to the abrogation of the Qur'an. In addition, the imposition of religion and fundamental teaching of religion such as "anthropology," "salvation," and ... are incompatible. Therefore, not permitting any imposition of religion on any degree and size is one of the most important messages of the Holy Quran.
