“Sources of Interpretation” are an important topic in the interpretative methods. These sources are rooted in revelation (Wahy) and redefined version or they have been derived from rational effort and human experience in the course of centuries. The difference among interpretative methods is related to the sources selected by interpreters. The present article tries to find out the viewpoints of Ayatollah Marefat about the exploitation of the companions and followers speeches, and it also examines the distinctions of this view with the one of Allamah Tabatabai. The importance of choosing these two interpreters is due to the fact that one of them strongly focuses on the source of the Quran and the other one focuses on interpreted works and narratives. This article examines the comparative view of Professor Ma'refat and Allameh Tabatabai on the words of followers and companions, respectively. It also studies the reasons behind verification and validation of each mentioned sources as well as the privileges of their viewpoints and their shared points with Allamah Tabatabai’s point of view. The results of this study show that the present disagreement is rooted in the interconnection of instrumental sciences and the science of interpretation sourcing, the difference in interpretation defining and the inherent integrity of interpretation and explanation terminologies of Quran which are by no means neither separable nor breakable.
